This is the second, and probably the final part of the videos dedicated to the work of Comrade Goblin Puchkov. Previously, I went through all the more or less significant adventures of Dmitry Yuryevich in game development. However, the most meticulous comrades saw through my cunning plan - to leave the most delicious things for a separate video.
2006 - Dungeon orderlies
You don't often see reviews of Dungeon Orderlies on the Internet, and that's not surprising. Comrade Goblin copes with this task independently in the initial cutscene. The orderlies were developed and released by the joint efforts of the SoftClub and 1C Company studios with the participation of the Full Pe studio. A long time ago, when you could still share your opinion on the Internet without fear of offending anyone, there was an old meme that said Fallout 3 was being secretly developed somewhere in Russia. So, jokes aside, this is what Dungeon Orderlies are.
The game is an isometric role-playing game. First things first, let's create a character. Distributing skill points, abilities, choosing perks. What’s interesting here is the charisma, which is called impressiveness, which seems to hint at a certain peasant style of further events. You don’t have to choose anything at all, but start the game as an already formed personality. For special connoisseurs, there is customization of the character icon, made according to the precepts of the exemplary family man Dominic Torretto. And yes, we are creating an icon, because the “doll” of the character remains unchanged.
After creating the character, Dmitry Puchkov personally gives us introductory notes. During the landing, something goes wrong and most of those transported die or fall into the hands of motley groups. The boar is mistaken for dead and, having recovered, it begins to complete the assigned task.
Control is performed in the best traditions of the genre, carried out with the mouse. The game world is divided into square zones, within which the main action takes place. These zones are divided into hostile ones, from which you can only get out by killing all hostile creatures, and relatively peaceful ones, where you can chat, go to the store, pick up quests and just have a good time. By the way, there are plenty of quests in the game and sometimes they are even quite entertaining.
Despite the fact that the game provides Prime-Casino.co.uk for leveling up impressiveness, conversation, as a rule, is not limited to. Therefore, you will have to beat, shoot, stab, cut and explode. Fortunately, the seemingly closed prison planet has everything you need for this. An impressive arsenal of firearms and bladed weapons, collected by local craftsmen, will satisfy even the most demanding maniacs. We dreamed of introducing the gooks to the smell of napalm? Here you go! Hate all white people? You are welcome! Sleep and see how you punish the natives for their hatred of other races? Don't pass by! Battles take place in real time with the possibility of using an active pause. You were bitten on the leg by a rabid cannibal? We pause and look for a cure. Either through the inventory, or in the quick access menu, where everything used in one way or another is loaded automatically. Hear me MMO?!
Of course, there were some controversial issues that could equally be considered both disadvantages and features. For example, when a character is silenced, there is a chance that he will drop the weapon from his hands. At the same time, he is not able to pick it up and continue the fight on his own. You will have to do this. Manually. Or let's say, have you heard anything about the line of fire? She's here. Moreover, your characters sometimes move independently during battle, and often come under fire from allies.
So now let's get to the fun part. In 2006, the all-consuming machine of tolerance had not yet been completed, and therefore the Orderlies did not care about minorities, majorities and other things glorified today. Such terrible words today as chauvinism, racism, oppression, slavery - all this is in the Dungeon Orderlies. This is understandable, because we are on a prison planet, where we are exiled to eternally condemned scum. So they organize clubs based on interests of varying degrees of lice.
As for the plot, everything is simple. The sabotage and reconnaissance group "Ghoul" consisting of five people, under the cover of prisoners, is sent to the prison planet "Matrosskaya Silence". Their task is to find pepelats, which, according to intelligence data, are collected by local craftsmen somewhere on the planet, and to destroy everything and everyone associated with these developments. As mentioned earlier, the landing did not go according to plan and the group's personnel were divided. We have to go through this difficult path in the shoes of a cadet, whom everyone calls Boar. As we move along the main line of quests, we will find three more of our colleagues, each of whom will dump on us a couple of tasks to increase the overall combat effectiveness of the group. The plot in some places is not linear, but the result is the same - Boar and his comrades complete the assigned task and evacuate from the planet. The most meticulous mathematicians could have noticed a cleverly left trap and missed the fifth fighter.
2008 - Dungeon Medics 2: The Hunt for the Black Square
Sergeant Hartman, who was supposed to command the corps de ballet of paratroopers, was captured by the police and remained on Matrosskaya Tishina. We managed to find out about his fate two years later, with the release of the sequel to Dungeon Orderlies.
In general, this is the same game, but modified taking into account the wishes of the gaming community who played the first part. The AI has been improved, and now our brave guards don’t shoot each other in the back. There are more partners and even some system for selecting them based on race and personal qualities. For example, two Aryans quarreled and cannot fight shoulder to shoulder. The global map and all the manipulations with it have also become prettier. Now we are free to go wherever we want and even rob CORANS.
In addition to gameplay improvements, a number of manipulations were carried out with graphics. The changes benefited the Orderlies and even the old maps began to shine with new colors. In addition, cut scenes and facial animation have been improved.
The plot directly continues the first part. Hartman comes to his senses in captivity of the police, scratches his turnips and sets off to cause mutilation on an industrial scale. The main story line of quests is on the same shelf as the adventures of Boar and Co. As before, this is a nightmare of the LGBT community,* tolerance and other intolerances, but it seems to me multiplied by two.
Despite, or perhaps despite, modern trends, Dungeon Orderlies occupy a special place in my heart. This is a great game from a gameplay point of view, although not without its flaws or features. Quite a strong elaboration of the “specific” atmosphere and the same “specific” characters. A vigorous cocktail of boomer, prison, army and black humor. And the most disgusting and unmemorable musical component.
